The requirements for a Ponaganset High School Diploma involve multiple measures of students' performances that include the successful completion of Carnegie Units (22 course credits), school-wide diploma assessments (Passion Project and P3 Portfolio), participation on the state assessment(s), and demonstration of State required proficiencies. The 22 course credits students are required to earn in order to graduate include a minimum number of credits in the specific subjects outlined below.
English (4 credits)
Mathematics (4 credits)
Science (3 credits)
Social Studies (3 credits)
Physical Education/Health (2 credits)
Fine Arts (Music/Performing/Visual) (.5 credit)
Personalized Learning Courses (Electives) (3.5 - 5.5 credits)
World Languages (2 credits - this is not required by the State but is required by many colleges)
Technology - This requirement will be satisfied by the successful completion of a Ponaganset High School P3 Portfolio.
Financial Literacy - This requirement may be satisfied by passing a .5 credit Personal Finance Course, a 1.0 credit Algebra II with Financial Applications Course, or by using the W4 Flex Block to complete online modules and assessments to demonstrate proficiency.
Civics - this requirement may be satisfied by earning 3 social studies credits or using the W4 Flex Block to complete online modules and assessments to demonstrate proficiency.
