INDIVIDUALIZED LEARNING PLANS

Answering questions like these are at the heart of our P3 ILP where we empower our students to make informed decisions about their journey through school so they can be prepared to meet their goals after graduation.

Every student in the school maintains an Individualized Learning Plan or ILP in their P3 on the Richer Picture system. The ILP is a state-mandated student-directed planning and monitoring tool that customizes learning opportunities throughout their secondary school experience to broaden their perspectives and support the attainment of goals. Students who engage in the ILP process assume an active role in the mapping, assessment, and reflection required to develop and reflect upon academic, career, and personal/social goals.

At PHS the ILP is a student-directed academic and career planning tool. The ILP is managed through the P3 Portfolio that travels with each student from Grade 6 to Grade 12, and is accessed through Richer Picture. In the ILP platform, students access curriculum-based ILP activities, compile their activity results and self-reflections as guided by their counselors and teachers or independently.

Spotlight on YouScience

As part of the ILP curriculum, all students utilize YouScience to “use performance measures of aptitudes to uncover students' natural talents, match them to careers, and give them personalized feedback on how their abilities can be utilized in school, work, and in their daily lives.” (YouScience.com, 2022)

P3 Course Planner

Students at PHS are empowered to use data and information to research the best possible sequence of opportunities to meet their goals and follow their passions. This digital course planner is a sandbox tool that students can use to design a sequence of possible courses to meet their needs.

The Individualized Learning Plan component of the P3 system is where we meet the RI Diploma System requirement that each student keeps an ILP that parents/guardians can view.
